Another thing that I have noticed about local community is just how afraid we (me, my neighbours, my colleagues) are of contacting people in positions of authority.
I'm assuming that if you read this blog that you care about how society works and that you are probably driven in some way to make a difference. But how many of us ever pick up the phone and call a politician to tell them what we really think? Or better yet, how many of us actually ask to meet in person with the local MP?
I sign online petitions and cobble together letters to politicians with the help of websites, but only once have I met my local MP.
So this month's challenge is to take some responsibility for the decisions made by those we have elected to represent us and pick up the phone...
